This week, I had a lot to think about with music. Not only did I continue to work on my college audition materials, but I had the great experience of watching my schools production of the Musical "Chicago." I also had a lot to think about as I began to plan my final project.
College Auditions
I had a great week working on college auditions. For one, I am feeling really confident for my cadenza and the solo Interlude. I continued my work on Passacaille and received some great feedback in private lessons on the solo! Also, the Greater North Texas Youth Orchestra rehearsals started back and I am extremely excited to be working on the Planets!
Chicago
On Friday, I had a great time watching my school perform the musical "Chicago." They did a phenomenal job and I absolutely LOVED it. Also, although the score does not include harp, hearing the pit orchestra live was a great experience and it has me excited for opportunities of playing in pit orchestras in college that often arise!
ISM
For ISM, I began planning my final project for the second semester of the class. I have a few ideas, but I want to focus more on unique techniques on the harp and recording in my second semester of this class. For this, I have been listening to a song called "These Chains" by Mid-Air Thief a lot lately which I think has some great opportunities for this focus. I can hear many points where techniques such as Xylophonic sounds, Bisbigliando, harmonics, p.d.l.t. and many other techniques could be used.
I am on a great path for this second semester of ISM and for college, so I am really excited for what the future holds!
