This past week, we had our Fall break. During this time, I was able to finalize my interview with Professor Haefner at UNT and conduct my interview with Evan Forrester. This also gave a lot of time to relax, work and very importantly, the chance to go all out when cooking and baking!
Time Management
School breaks are odd to me. On one hand they bring relief with a nice break from school, but when your day loses its structure, it can bring some unwanted stress and frustration. Early on in the week, I made a lot of progress with college applications, which was great because those are reaching major deadlines which hold a lot of weight when I'm working on other work. I also made some good progress in my arrangement of picking up hands by Quadeca by looking some at the opening guitar. Besides that, despite my ambitious goals for the week, I did not make the progress I had hoped to. Despite this, I have a good plan for the next few weeks to make up for this.
Interview
The interview with Evan Forester was great! He provided a perspective that had some unexpected insight that will make major changes to my recording process of my arrangements. He provided a great focus on how the use of analog and digital systems for music recording and process both differ from each other and work together. Moving into my later stages of arrangement, I really look forward to playing around with some of the ideas he offered.
Thanksgiving
I haven't touched much on cooking in these blogs because it is a regular part of my life that I enjoy, but typically isn't anything spectacular. I LOVE cooking though and have been cooking meals and holiday dinners for my family since middle school. Thanksgiving this year had good food, but the pumpkin pie was by far a highlight. It was a layered pie and I made caramel from scratch for it, which made me feel incredible because trying new recipes is always exciting.
While I didn't make the progress I intended this week, I still made major progress and can move into the next few weeks with a clearer headspace for my project and research.
